Chicago’s aggressive pop rock band Marina City was recently named Chicago’s Band of the Year at this year’s Chicago Nightlife Awards. The band, comprised of members: Ryan Argast (lead vocals), Brian Johnson (vocals and guitar), Matt Gaudiano (vocals and keys), Eric Somers-Urrea (drums), Aaron Heiy (bass), and Todor Birindjiev (lead guitar), has been making a lot of waves lately.
The band is not only Chicago’s Band of the Year, but were also the winners of the 2015 Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands competition for last year’s Warped Tour. As a result, the band traveled to Los Angeles back at the end of March to record an EP with music producer John Feldmann.
In addition, Marina City teamed up with Craig Owens to record their live acoustic EP, Lost Doesn’t Mean Alone. For this EP the band stopped at select recording studios across the Midwest, allowing some of their fans to take part and experience the recording of this EP with them.
Marina City is currently preparing to head out on tour (tour dates below) with Sleep On It and Trophy Wives. In additon, the band will also be on select dates of the Van’s Warped Tour and will be playing at this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago, IL:

Here at LivingTheVanLife, we would like to wish Marina City the best of luck with their future plans and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this talented and ambitious band!
Marina City has quickly become one of our favorite bands not only to interview, but to also see live. Watching them preform on stage, one can quickly see their love and enthusiasm for what they are doing and can see that transmitted into the audience as they play.
We have made a lot of memories with this band over the past year. From the first interview to the second interview, which took place in a shower. From the time we decided to drive to Iowa last minute to see them play to the other time we made a last minute road trip to see them play in Chicago. From the third interview in the back of their van to a few minutes later when Todor and Aaron did couples yoga for Band Challenge Monday. We always have fun with this band and cannot wait to hopefully work with them more in the future!
Best of luck to Marina City and we cannot wait until we get to see them again!
