Surfacing: “Chaos Through Clarity” Album Review

Over five years in the making, New York band Surfacing released their album “Chaos Through Clarity” today and it is definitely one to check out! Blending the sounds of Avenged Sevenfold with Miss May I and August Burns Red, Surfacing’s Joe D stated, in our interview with them posted last week, that: “if there’s one album to sum up the last 15 years of metalcore, it’s ‘Chaos Through Clarity’” (you can check out the interview here).

The intro to the album caught my attention right off the bat and retained it all the way to the last song “A Wish To Perish.” The album in its entirety demonstrates various styles of metalcore with hints of other genres. “Chaos Through Clarity” as a whole takes the listener on a journey through vocalist Ryan Mayorga’s raw and powerful vocals along with demanding riffs and catchy melodies.

All in all, I would have to say that “Circles” was one of my favorites, along with “Smother The Symphony” and “Pitch Black.” After listening to the album over and over again, I would definitely encourage you to check it out if you have not already!
